Old fashioned poem
Shells and shingle tumble The shore receives each wave The sea, emboldened by an unresisting beach Creeps up its tide To where once, rocks were dry Until each pebble’s wet and shimmering And it finally retreats To lie exhausted at the beach’s feet Though little pools of limpid sighs remain Gleaming with reflected starlight through the night. |
